Current Trends in the Treatment of Skeletal Metastatic Disease

A one day conference aimed at Orthopaedic and Plastic Consultants and those registrars and fellows preparing for the FRCS (Tr & Orth) examination.

The course will discuss the management of Orthopaedic Metastatic Bone Disease and the need for a multidisciplinary approach when planning treatment. The discussion will encompass the use of Endo Prosthetic Replacement as well as more conventional surgical treatment such as intramedullary nails. Different treatment options will be presented for the management of common metastatic presentations and there will be an interactive debate on a variety of cases. The conference will act as a forum for professionals to discuss different treatment options.

Delegates are encouraged to bring their own cases for discussion.

The First Annual Nice Foot & Ankle Symposium - 13-15 May 2011

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and senior Specialist Registrars wishing to extend their understanding of foot conditions and develop a balanced view of treatment techniques from around the world.

What are its aims?

The symposium will be focusing on the philosophy of foot surgery, techniques and implants. Its aim is to stimulate global discussion on:

The causes of foot deformity?

Why we practice a particular technique over another?

How are these techniques optimised?

What soft tissue procedures have to offer?

Focused talks, discussion groups, cadaver workshops

This will be achieved by short, focused instructive talks to clarify the knowledge available. Round table case discussions to explore the concepts in greater detail. Sessions on anatomical specimens to put into practice the techniques learned. To accommodate our international guests, sessions will be simultaneously translated in English, French and German.
