Kirschner (K) wire fixation of upper limb fractures - SURVEY

Dear Colleague

Kirschner (K) wire fixation of upper limb fractures is a common procedure in all trauma and orthopaedic departments. There appears to be little national consensus with regards use of antibiotic prophylaxis, or how long to leave the wires in situ, and infection rate, in these patients.
This simple survey comprises 8 questions and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
It will provide a snapshot of current practice amongst BOA members nationally, and stimulate much needed research into this common procedure with little supporting scientific evidence.

I would be most grateful for your time in undertaking this survey.

Kind regards
Mr Oliver J Pearce
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Milton Keynes Foundation Trust.
